Do we really need FICO scores to borrow money?
Being a finance graduate, a law student and having worked on Bank Servers for more than 10 years, why are consumers subject to scores created by Three companies simple based on credit reports generated by mismanaged banks that have been proven to operate unethically, spending frivolously and selfishly on themselves paying law makers to remove parameters set in placed to protect both banks and consumers from ever experiencing 1929 all over again. And why is Suze Orman, paid by these same three companies, being allowed to use MSNBC to promote these companies to us making us think this is not an INFORMERCIAL.I have to admit " a little bit" on the ranting. But understand why I bring this up...It is apparent that the financial culture here is different from France, London, Japan which btw do not use FICO scores. We are the ONLY country with this brilliant process. So, how are other Countries able to do without FICO? Btw, don't we owe China billions for bailing us out? Cultural Arrogance and answer it by starting off with Finance UGGHHH why even answer the question??? To let the whole world know how smart you are? Bravo But the question is simple Do we really need Fico scores to borrow money? Yes or No...Now why or how a full essay came out of this is beyond me.Again... Bravo... Check your references NO ONE OTHER THAN AMERICA USES FICO SCORES

If you never borrow money......?
and you have no credit score. Do you still have to pay more for car insurance?Judy, Playing the credit card game is borrowing money and going into debt. What does going into debt have to do with driving a car?You can get a mortgage without a fico socre. It's called manual underwriting. Where they actually underwrite a loan.

Can I just pay for anything (if I have the money), or will some sellers only accept borrowed money?
This is a real question.I thought that if you had the money to pay for something when you got it, then you could just buy it, with no credit check, and your credit score did not matter. I thought that you only needed a credit check and good credit if you wanted to borrow the money, be billed later, or rent something. However, lately I am seeing many questions on Yahoo Answers from users who have no credit or low credit scores and want to know what they need to do so that they will have good enough credit to be allowed to buy something, usually a car, house, or cell phone. Is this true? Will sellers really refuse to let you pay in full?I can understand needing a credit check for a cell phone contract, a mortgage, an apartment rental, or a car loan, but if you have the money to get a prepaid cell phone and to put down 100 % of the asking price of the house and car, how would your credit prevent you from doing so?jlf I got the idea from questions posted here from users who said that they could not buy things because of their credit. However, Bobbi's answer indicates that those uses did not have the money to pay in full.
I borrowed money off wonga.com and they are threatening to take me to court?
i lent 900 of wonga back in april and lost my job the same month, i wrote them a letter explaining my situation and told them on the phone that i didnt have a job. They continued adding intrest onto the account and i now owe 2300 is this legal and would the court's rule in there favour if it got to court. i have now just started a new job and can make arrangements to pay them but i think 2300 is a unfair amount. any advice
